Key Takeaways from People’s Training Program for UNICEF

One of our most sought-after services is the training that we offer to recruited members with the aim to help them learn more through research-supported tips and gain further useful information on the program that they are set to deliver. To guarantee the members’ complete readiness before they are sent to carry the course of the program, we conduct mandatory training sessions that are conducted on regular basis and are inclusive of various types including Refresher Trainings, Induction Trainings and Training the Trainer methods – to help them attain advanced skills and allow them to show their utmost best throughout. The nature of UNICEF’s programs that People is currently leading, require the forces that we recruit, to communicate directly with civil society in the locations that they are made responsible for – covering the urban, remote and the northern areas of Pakistan. For a society that is culturally, ethnically, and in terms of language, diverse, requires a staff that is trained to cater to those differences while conducting their jobs. Apart from the introductions and the deeper insights of the program, here are some important takeaways from the trainings that have been conducting:

Defining TORs for Each Position:

Every position in the program were allotted a separate training sessions where the rules and the procedures were discussed, along with the parameters of each individual role’s tasks and responsibilities. These included the position of Social Mobilizers, Union Council Communication Support Officers (UCCSO), the Tehsil Communication Officers (TCO), the District Health Communication Support Officers (DHCSO) and the Divisional Communications Officer (DCO) – all of the integral posts that ensure the completion of the program. These tasks for each post were laid out in detail and communicated to members in each of their respective training sessions.

The program is carried out through a structure of hierarchy that creates a reliable chain of command and control in each allotted region. Our responsibility, after the processes of carefully screening and recruiting, is to ensure that each of the individuals holding these positions are fully equipped with the an advanced level of knowledge and skills that are required to carry out their part of the program, entirely.

Delivering Information: Providing Supporting Materials

Important handouts with essential information in writing, including rules and directions, and additional reading materials on the program were provided in each of the sessions, to make sure that the members are fully informed of their role in the program and the individual responsibilities that they have to take care of to complete their tasks. To help them further, informal activities were conducted within formal environments that were crafted to reflect the core nature of their tasks and help provide a deeper understanding, through productive means and hands-on exercises, to allow them to foresee how will they be required to conduct themselves in the field.

Detailing Company Policies and Discussing Grievance Procedures 

We hold our partners’ policies very close to us and make sure they are conveyed adequately and followed throughout the course of the program. During these sessions, a considerable amount of time and attention was focused on the detailing of these policies to the members, who were advised to strictly follow through. The repercussions to acts of misdemeanor and in cases of violation of rules were also communicated in simple terms so are widely understood by the staff. Following this segment, important contact information was shared of the authorities responsible for taking disciplinary actions in line with the policies conveyed to us by our partner.
